Position Summary
The Patient Access Scheduler serves as a centralized scheduling resource dedicated to MRI and therapy services, ensuring patients receive timely, accurate, and supportive coordination throughout their care journey. This role is responsible for coordinating and scheduling all MRI and therapy services, verifying insurance requirements, and maintaining accurate documentation. The scheduler facilitates smooth communication between patients, providers, and the imaging/therapy teams, supporting efficient workflows and high-quality patient experiences. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially are essential to success in this position.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain the highest level of customer service while answering phones, scheduling appointments, and supporting overall coordination of care.
- Manage MRI and therapy schedules, including organizing provider/therapist calendars, minimizing conflicts, and ensuring proper session setup.
- Serve as a positive, professional liaison for patients, peers, supervisors, and physicians, especially when receiving or implementing feedback and direction.
- Verify insurance benefits, obtain prior authorizations for MRI and therapy services as required, and ensure all pre-appointment documentation is complete and accurate.
- Provide patients with clear information regarding appointments, instructions, scheduling changes, and next steps in their care.
- Communicate MRI preparation instructions and therapy visit expectations clearly to patients.
- Coordinate across multiple MOS locations to ensure MRI and therapy scheduling is optimized for patient convenience and provider availability.
- Complete all other duties assigned by leadership.
Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Associate's degree in related field preferred.
- At least two years of customer service experience is required.
- One year of experience in a medical setting is preferred.
