Introduction:
Visium Resources has been asked to identify qualified candidates for this Safety Consultant position for this client located in Brevard County seeking the services of a Safety Consultant to help develop a comprehensive safety program manual, training materials, and other materials to support safety programs. This position is a contract opportunity which is expected to be on-site for a duration of at least a year.
The Safety Consultant will be responsible for the following:
Safety Program Manual - Develop a safety manual, with input from the client, that includes, but is not limited to:
- Hazard Communication
- Heat Illness Prevention
- Ladder Safety
- Defensive Drive
- Electrical Safety
- Lockout/Tagout
- Respiratory Protection
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Maintenance of Traffic
- Defensive Driving
- Ergonomics
- Hot Work
- Heavy Equipment Operation
- Hearing Protection/Conservation
- Injury and Illness Reporting
- Bloodborne Pathogen
- Spill Prevention and Clean Up
- Hand/Power Tools
Training – Create training plans, presentations, and other materials for items listed above.
Implementation Plan – Assist in establishing a phased approach for implementing the safety manual to ensure that the manual is understood and can be easily followed by employees.
Safety Committee Meetings/Promoting Safety Culture – Assist in creating a written charter or informal policy, determining membership, establishing roles and responsibilities for the safety committee.
Provide recommendations for safety initiatives, best approach to communicate safety information with employees, and methods recognizing safe behaviors for an individual or a group.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or Management (with safety specialization preferred)
- 5 to 10 years of related experience
- Experience working with Florida-based public entities is a must.
- OSHA Training and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is a plus.
