The Electric Utility Transmission and Distribution Safety Technician is responsible for the daily administration and implementation of the client's Safety Management Plan to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements promoting a safe and healthy work environment. The Safety Tech will support the assigned site Safety Management Plan needs under the client supervisor's direction.
Compensation: $ 44 to $47 an hour DOE in utility safety, overtime, GSA per diem and travel.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 6-12 years of experience in utility construction safety, hazard recognition, accident investigation, and root cause analysis
- Working knowledge of applicable electric utility transmission and distribution standards and work practices
- Demonstrates effective communication skills, capable of managing multiple projects, has strong training and interpersonal skills
- A positive disposition demonstrates passion, integrity, and responsibility
- Basic computer competency with Microsoft Office products and ability to learn client systems as required
- Familiar with Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) measures, programs, and procedures
- Must possess a safety designation from the following list, Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP), Construction Site Safety Technician (CSST), Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technicians (OHST) OR Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (COSS)
- Utility Safety Technicians will traveling up to 80% to accomplish objectives.
Typical Responsibilities of the Electric Utility Transmission and Distribution Safety Technician:
- Visit multi-site work locations daily to review safety with crews, including Job Hazard Analysis JHA's, hazard recognition coaching, strengths, opportunities to improve, and corrective actions needed to enhance safety awareness for everyone associated with work in the field
- Maintain record-keeping systems including OSH metrics and KPIs
- Participate in and lead Safety Observation Program
- Participate in and lead behavior-based Human Performance Program
- Recognize hazards, perform risk assessments, and provide recommendations to eliminate or mitigate identified hazards
- Address employee OSH concerns
- Prepare technical reports
