Outreach and Clinic Coordinator
Position Overview: The Port Ministries is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Health Clinic Coordinator to oversee and facilitate our volunteer-staffed Free Health Clinic and perform community outreach. In this role, you will create a safe and welcoming environment for all individuals seeking medical care. Responsibilities include managing day-to-day operations, coordinating volunteers, maintaining records, cultivating community relationships, and hosting special events. Strong emphasis on outreach. About Port Ministries: Port Ministries is a community-based organization committed to empowering the South Side of Chicago through education, basic needs services, and community engagement. Our programs encompass a range of initiatives, including after-school programs, free workshops, mental health services, art studio programs, and the Bread Truck, which offers meals and hygiene kits to those in need.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create a safe and supportive medical environment for our community.
- Provide empathic medical attention and care for patients of all ages.
- Recruit volunteers, with a preference for MDs and NPs, to offer free weekly medical hours at the clinic.
- Develop and deliver health education programs as part of our People's School initiative.
- Schedule and coordinate volunteers to support medical and pharmaceutical care.
- Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of the Free Health Clinic.
- Attend monthly Port Ministries Coordinator Meetings to foster collaboration.
- Cultivate and nurture relationships with community stakeholders.
- Promote the program and recruit MDs/NPs by hosting monthly community meetings and events.
- Support Port Ministries' promotional and marketing efforts.
- Organize special events to engage participants, their families, and volunteers.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and grants team to aid in fundraising efforts.
- Host an annual fundraiser to support the Free Health Clinic.
- Integrate Centro Sanar services into all Free Health Clinic activities.
- Organize community events to engage patients and volunteer medical professionals.
- Incorporate and promote other Port Ministries programs and services.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Health, Health Education, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of experience working in a community-based health setting.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in Spanish is ideal.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, various EHR software, and basic computer skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
