Responsibilities
What You'll Do:
Panasonic Energy is looking for interns to join our creative team in the Health and Safety department. The interns hired for this position should expect to learn all facets of manufacturing and will leave this position with invaluable skills and industry knowledge. Also, this internship program is highly regarded in our field, so successful participation will be a great addition to your resume.
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Industrial Hygienist Intern. This internship is designed to provide practical experience and exposure to various aspects of industrial hygiene in a professional setting. As an Industrial Hygienist Intern, you will be responsible for assisting the industrial hygiene team in identifying and assessing potential workplace hazards, developing control strategies, conducting monitoring and testing, and promoting a culture of health and safety in the workplace.
Program Requirements
- The program will be a fulltime paid summer internship working for Panasonic Energy of North America onsite at the Gigafactory
- The program will be 12 weeks in length, and is planned to occur between Monday, May 20th and Friday, August 9th. This date range is subject to change
- Must attend entirety of internship from the indicated start and end date noted above
- Minimum 3.2 GPA
- Must have completed a minimum of 2 years at an accredited university
Essential Duties
- Assist in conducting workplace assessments to identify and evaluate potential physical, chemical, biological, and ergonomic hazards
- Support the development and implementation of control measures and strategies to minimize or eliminate workplace hazards
- Assist in conducting air sampling, noise monitoring, ventilation assessments, and other industrial hygiene testing as needed
- Participate in ergonomic evaluations to identify and recommend strategies for improving workplace ergonomics and reducing musculoskeletal injuries
- Assist in the analysis and interpretation of monitoring and testing data, and help prepare reports and recommendations based on the findings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and industry best practices.
- Assist in the development and delivery of training programs on industrial hygiene topics for employees.
- Support incident investigations related to occupational health and hygiene, including data collection and analysis.
- Stay up-to-date with current occupational health and safety regulations and industry trends, and assist in implementing necessary updates.
- Contribute to the development and promotion of a positive health and safety culture through communication, training, and engagement initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements
- To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees, wearing PPE is a possibility and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

Qualifications
What You'll Bring:
Education
- Completion of at least two years of full-time enrollment (minimum 12 credit hours per semester) in a Bachelor’s degree program in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Occupational Health or related field
Essential Qualifications
- Must be currently enrolled as a fulltime student at an accredited four-year college or university
- Completion of at least two years of full-time enrollment (minimum 12 credit hours per semester) in a Bachelor’s Degree program
- Basic knowledge of industrial hygiene principles, regulations, and practices
- Familiarity with hazard identification and assessment techniques, exposure monitoring, and control strategies
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and collaboration skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to write and communicate technical information clearly and concisely
- Fluency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
- Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English
Preferred Qualifications
- GPA of 3.2 or higher
- Hands-on experience through project teams or previous jobs
- A desire to create a sustainable future through energy storage, renewable energy, and electric vehicles
