Job Summary
The Safety Coordinator plays a crucial role in promoting and ensuring a safe working environment across the organization. Safety Coordinator (SC): The safety coordinator must at a minimum have five years of vertical, tunnel or heavy civil construction experience and an active BCSP CHST credential or the Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP) designation. No other duties may be assigned in other words, this will be their only job/project

This position involves developing and implementing safety policies, conducting training sessions, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will be proactive in identifying potential hazards and implementing effective solutions to mitigate risks.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs in accordance with OSHA regulations and company policies.
Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Provide training to employees on safety practices, emergency procedures, CPR, first aid, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Prepare detailed reports on safety incidents, including root cause analysis to prevent future occurrences.
Collaborate with management to develop strategies for improving workplace safety culture.
Stay updated on workers' compensation laws and ensure compliance in reporting incidents.
Facilitate communication between employees and management regarding safety concerns or suggestions for improvement.

Skills

Strong knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) regulations and best practices.
Experience in training development and delivery related to workplace safety.
Proficient in report writing with attention to detail for documentation of incidents and safety audits.
Familiarity with root cause analysis techniques to identify underlying issues contributing to safety incidents.
Certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred.
Understanding of workers' compensation laws and processes.
Ability to fabricate solutions that enhance workplace safety measures effectively.
