POSITION SUMMARY

The Remote Patient Access Insurance Specialist is a non-patient facing role that works remotely or located in a call-center environment. The registrar is responsible for providing high-quality administrative support by managing patient registration, insurance verification, and completing Admissions/ Registrations remotely. The role includes ensuring patients have accurate and up-to-date information while coordinating effectively with healthcare teams and patients.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree Preferred

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

Healthcare Financial Management Association - HFMA (CRCR) Certified Revenue Cycle Representative certification required within 120 days of hire or transfer

EXPERIENCE:

-3-year experience in healthcare registration or Insurance experience related positions
Previous experience in a physicians' office or hospital setting is preferred

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

Patient Registration: Register patients into the system by obtaining and verifying personal, demographic, and insurance information remotely.
Insurance Verification: Confirm patient insurance eligibility and coverage to ensure billing accuracy and proper processing.
Data Entry & Management: Accurately enter patient information into electronic health records (EHR) and other relevant databases.
Patient Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for patients before their appointments, answering inquiries, and providing assistance with scheduling or registration.
Financial Information Management: Collect co-pays or other financial obligations remotely as necessary.
Compliance: Adhere to all healthcare regulations, privacy laws (such as HIPAA), and organizational policies in handling patient information.
Problem Resolution: Address any issues or concerns related to patient registration or insurance coverage with tact and professionalism.
Collaboration: Work closely with medical staff, insurance companies, and other departments to ensure smooth patient processing.

Skills and Qualifications:

Technical Skills: Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, scheduling software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies.
Attention to Detail: High attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of patient records and information.
Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to resolve issues efficiently.
Remote Work Competence: Ability to work independently in a remote environment, managing time and tasks effectively.
