About this Role:

Under direction of the Chief of the Behavioral Health Financing Branch, in the Local Governmental Financing Division, the Health Program Specialist I (HPSI) will serve as a skilled technical program consultant, providing policy and consultative advice on complex and sensitive policy matters within the Branch. The HPS I will function as the Branch expert advisor and specialist for behavioral health fiscal policy development, implementation, and rate development. The incumbent will help ensure the timely and appropriate development, implementation and monitoring of Medi-Cal behavioral health programs. The HPS I will also develop reports, analyses, plans, and procedures. The HPS I will be responsible for researching new program requirements related to Medi-Cal behavioral health programs, evaluating emerging ideas, best practices and trends, waiver options and evaluation, and providing appropriate guidance on the development of program and fiscal oversight.

Telework Information

This position may be eligible for telework up to three days per week and is required to report in-person and site-based a minimum of two days per week. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change consistent with DHCS’ Telework Program and Government Code sections 14200 – 14203. Telework is available to California residents, and proof of residency may be required.

Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated office and residence subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the reporting location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
