SUMMARY:
Plans, coordinates, and directs training and staff development programs to achieve company goals in environmental compliance, safety, quality, production and continuous improvement.
Provides direction for ensuring compliance and certification for the Safety Program and Environmental Management System (EMS) by performing the following duties: Conduct environmental and safety training, oversee implementation of the EMS, satisfy SAI’s Quality goals and objectives in completion of activities or duties (reference SAI Quality Manual and Quality Policy).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Represents and directs the company to maintain ISO 14001 certification and to adhere to ISO 14001 requirements. Is the EMS Representative.
- Maintains the Safety Program, safety files, procedures, programs, and records in compliance with regulatory agencies and ISO 14001 requirements.
- Compiles and submits reports to Federal and State regulatory agencies to maintain safety and environmental compliance.
- Administers the workers compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier to reduce employee lost time.
- Maintains employee training records according to the QMS and in compliance with ISO 14001.
- Maintains records and prepares statistical reports to evaluate performance of instructors, monitor progress of trainees, and training effectiveness.
- Formulates training programs, schedules and implements them based on knowledge of identified training needs, company production processes, business systems, or changes in products, procedures, or services.
- Inspects facility to detect existing or potential accident, health, and environmental hazards, determines corrective action or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
- Procures outside contractors, if necessary, to conduct safety or environmental compliance audits.
- Participates in investigations and makes studies and analysis of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies.
- Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries to determine cause and corrective action(s).
- Chairs and administers the Safety Committee and distributes meeting notes to members of the management staff.
- Makes recommendations to production and engineering for ergonomic concerns and improvements.
- Provides information, signs, and other materials to promote safety awareness and/or to warn of potential or actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
- Motivate employees, especially manufacturing personnel, to follow established procedures in safety, quality, production procedures and as outlined in the “Employee Reference Guide."
- Conducts and coordinates new hire orientation and ongoing safety, 5S and other training programs to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
- Compiles and analyzes past and current year training requirements with input from Managers to develop training plan.
- Organizes and develops training materials, testing and evaluation procedures, visual aids and other training resources to meet training requirements.
- Support and follow-up to achieve goals of Suggestion Program.
- Maintain and provide a safe work area and work in a safe manner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree BA/BS from a four-year college or university; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of Database software; Human Resource systems; Presentation software, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or technical procedures.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees and managers.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
