JOB PURPOSE:
Perform functions to execute all aspects of the safety programs, including but not limited to development, implementation, compliance, training, and reporting ensuring all areas of the company are compliant with safety and regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participates in the incident investigation process, including root cause analysis and identification of corrective action plans, and tracks completion of corrective actions.
- Interacts with third party medical providers and insurance company to monitor and maintain Worker’s Compensation records.
- Works with departments to correct safety hazards and develop preventative procedures.
- Compile, analyze, and report relevant data to management.
- Performs job hazard assessments and recommends measures to control exposures, including substitution of less hazardous materials, PPE, work practice changes, and engineering controls.
- Prepares and conducts training classes.
- Compiles and submits required OSHA incident reports and other required safety reports.
- Observes workers to determine use of prescribed safety equipment and procedures.
- Conducts hazard analysis for any new product or process.
- Maintains hazard analysis and risk assessment records in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
- Coordinates safety audit processes with direction from senior management.
- Supports management with the coordination of outside local, state, and federal regulatory agencies, and company vendors associated with safety and environmental programs.
- Supports contractor safety program by being involved with the record management and interfacing with contractors to ensure compliance.
- Stays abreast of industry trends to continuously improve safety programs and execution of safety strategy.
- Creates and/or updates internal safety and environmental policies as needed.
- Leads company safety meetings and maintains all documentation related to these meetings.
- Responsible for safety communication throughout the facility through various methods.
- Trains, coaches, and counsels staff members, as necessary, on regulatory compliance and safety awareness.
- Oversees facility security and needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned and needed.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Human Safety or related field.
Experience and/or Training:
- 5 years of safety management and administration in a manufacturing environment including,
- Federal and state occupational health and safety regulations
- Worker’s compensation management
- Incident investigation
- Safety audits
- Data tracking and analysis
- 2 years of experience with procedural writing.
- Able to work flexible hours to cover all production shifts.
Licenses/Certificates: OSHA 30 Certified, First Aid/CPR
Technology/Equipment: Proficiency working in Microsoft Office Suite; EHS-related systems; Learning Management Systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master’s degree in EHS or business
Experience and/or Training:
- 1 year of experience facilitating training.
- 1 year of experience environmental safety.
Licenses/Certificates: Train the Trainer Certification, Certified trainer various safety-related programs, and/or other safety-related certification.
Technology/Equipment:Smartsheets.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
Sitting for long periods of time, 3-5 hours per day. Walking in the Production department to different areas of work. Speaking, hearing, seeing. Listen and observe the environment for hazard prevention. Use hands for tools. Regularly lift 30-50 lbs. throughout shift. Team-lift as specified by leadership. Employees may perform tasks that require bending, twisting, and turning frequently.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor working environment, hot in Summer, temperature controlled in Winter. Moving machinery, i.e. forklifts, moveable carts, etc. Uneven ground where cart tracks are identified. Air quality may be dusty and potentially require additional PPE in certain areas. Sound level below 85 decibels except in areas specified as requiring hearing protection.
