Job Summary
To assist in the training and evaluation of all company personnel. To evaluate and educate all company personnel in an effort to improve their skills, safety awareness and to assist on the implementation of the company's training and safety programs.
Requirements
Minimum Education/Practical:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent, college preferred.
- Sufficient tractor trailer or equivalent work experience.
- Petroleum industry knowledge preferred.
- Class A driver's license with hazmat endorsement is a must.
Skills
- High level of driving ability with special attention to defensive driving skills and techniques.
- Ability to communicate information to others.
- Thorough knowledge of company policies and procedures.
- Experience in training and instruction to others.
- Competent working knowledge of standard industry practices of each division within Wadhams Enterprises, Inc.:
- ARG- Petroleum loading and unloading
- ETW- Bulk milk transport and farm pickup
- RIST Truck load and LTL- Freight/Cargo pickup, delivery and cargo securement
- Computer skills sufficient to work with Microsoft Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, various other email programs, and the ability to utilize the internet to facilitate and research necessary information for employees.
- Must be able to meet, pass and be able to maintain at all times applicable requirements of -49 CFR PART 1572-CREDENTIALING AND SECURITY THREAT ASSESSMENTS.
- Must maintain a current US Passport and / or Enhanced Commercial Drivers License.
- Must maintain an current TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
- Must meet all FMCSA DOT medical requirements for CMV driver certification.
- Maintain current FMCSA DOT medical certification.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time at a desk and in commercial/non-commercial motor vehicles.

- To oversee, participate and facilitate the initial training of all new employees including evaluating baseline-driving skills of drivers.
- To oversee and participate in raising inexperienced drivers' skills to a level in which they can operate a tractor trailer safely to the point a terminal drivertrainer can train the employee on terminal/division specific policy and procedures.
- To give driving and safety instruction to employees experiencing a specific skill problem.
- To oversee and assist in final training evaluation and completion of the employee training check list.
- To assist management in the development and implementation of new and existing training programs.
- To oversee and/or perform prescribed re-ride evaluations, job specific practical evaluations, recommend and implement any needed training.
- Represent the company at an incident as needed including response and assistance at crashes, injuries, mis-deliveries and spills working with onsite agencies and vendors to investigate and document the incident.
- To oversee and/or perform post incident evaluation and re-training recommendations.
- To observe and evaluate employee performance of specific job functions by conducting terminal observations. This includes but not limited to: vehicle inspections, terminal speed limits, terminal yard procedures, proper hooking/unhooking procedures, compliance of D.O.T. regulations, paperwork audits, and safe entry and exit of equipment.
- To observe and evaluate drivers performance of driving skills (speed, safety cushion, use of lights and signals and merging, etc) utilizing on road observations.
- Assist and participate in driver trainer education and professional development.
- To work with all levels of management to bring safety related customer issues to a satisfactory resolution.
- To assist the Safety Department in the development and presentation of safely meetings and required employee training including OSHA and Homeland Security required training.
- To complete reports and communicate to appropriate personnel the results of evaluations and training in a timely manner.
- All personnel must be reliable, must report for duty on time, must be neat and presentable, and must be available for overtime whenever required.
- Must keep management informed.
- Must maintain a good working relations with customers, vendors, co-workers and management.
- Learn and adhere to all applicable company policies and procedures.
- Overnight travel at company expense will be required on a regular basis.
- 24 hour/7 day on call and ability to respond to crashes, injuries, mis-deliveries and spills.
