PURPOSE
Under the general supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, provides primary care to patients ranging in age from birth to 21 years of age. Works as part of a care team that practices evidenced based medicine in a Patient Centered Medical Home model of care. Provides clinical leadership and supervision of midlevel providers
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Graduation from an accredited school of medicine
- Hold current license to practice in state of Virginia
- Current DEA certificate
- Board Certification in Pediatrics
- CPR Certified

Supervisory * 1. Supervises assigned mid-level providers in the conduct of clinical care and delegates authority when and where needed.2. Reviews patient charts of any assigned mid-level provider to check for quality of care.Clinical *__

1. Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment for pediatric patients.
2. Obtains and documents appropriate chief complaint, past medical, family and social history, review of systems, examination, medications and allergies, assessment and plan for each patient within the electronic medical record.
3. Provides medical orders for prescription refills, administration of medications, ancillary testing, and/or referrals within electronic medical record as per policy.
4. Reviews ancillary test results and coordinates notification to the patient as per policy.
5. Educates parents of pediatric patients in disease management and prevention.
6. Completion of appropriate chart documentation within EHR to comply with insurance and reimbursement guidelines
7. Completion of all required documentation within EHR within a timely manner as per policy.
8. Participates in on-call pediatric schedule.
9. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
Medical Administrative
1. Works with other clinical staff to establish clinical protocols and measures.
2. Review mid-level patient medical records as per policy.
3. Follows established agency policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
4. As appropriate to the position, participates in specified health promotion, education and/or prevention programs.
5. Establish, strengthen, and negotiate relationships between the health center and other clinicians, provider organizations and providers in this marketplace.
6. Maintains appropriate licensure and certification including meeting and/or exceeding
CME requirements.
7. Attends all staff and provider meetings as requested.
8. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
9. Supports the mission of PATHS.
SKILLS
1. Ability to observe, assess and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
2. Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of pediatric medical care.
3. Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct parent of pediatric patients in correct usage.
4. Knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise.
5. Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirement.
6. Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of pediatric medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment.
7. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
8. Ability to develop and present pediatric educational programs and/or workshops.
9. Effective verbal and written communist skills.
10. Effective computer skills (Microsoft Office, EClinical Works and Google).
