Job Title: Quality Assurance / Hygiene Specialist
Department: Dietary Department
Reports to: Manager Dietary Department
Salary: $ 35,020.01
Summary:
The incumbent will function as a Technician and a Hygiene Specialist to provide quality assurance in the areas of equipment functionality and maintenance, chemical safety and compliance, as well as cleanliness and general hygiene. He/she will assure the food safety and specifications of products and processes by enforcing quality policies procedures, and standards. Establish a basis for regulatory and customer compliance, mitigate risk, and comply with third party audits and CMS standards. Responsible for collecting data, analyzing data, and providing reports for monitoring, review and decision making. Acts as a liaison between dietary and the hospital QA office to ensure proper alignment of policies and procedures and manage IRs at the department level.
Organizational Summary: This position is under the direct leadership of the Manager.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assist the Manager in the implementation and improvement of SQF programs, Food safety Plans (FSP), SSOP (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures) and SOP Compliance.
· Ensure compliance to all regulatory standards including FSP, FDA, and SSOP’s.
· Oversees and continually monitors effectiveness of Sanitation Program
· Communicate frequently with production team and production supervisors
· Assist the Manager with third party audits, customer audits, and government audits as needed.
· Generate ideas to improve quality procedures and participate in development and implantation of new policies, procedures and/or programs to ensure the department is operating based on the established uniform standards.
· Conduct training included, but not limited to, product quality standards, GMP’s (Good manufacturing practices, and Food safety issues).
· Validate quality checks against production specifications.
· Work with the management team to achieve consistent production of wholesome and best quality food in the kitchen.
· Work with the inventory team to inspect incoming deliveries of food and supplies for quality standard compliance and ensure that quality issues concerning production are effectively addressed.
· Carried out inspection on food following customer complaints, discovers possible problems, perform necessary tests and document results.
· Carries out inspection on incidences occurred within department regardless of any complaint or not.
· Enforce disciplinary action program as it pertains to quality and food safety issues.
· Ensure the products and services offered meet industry and CMS standards
· Examine products, inspect equipment, talk with employees, and write reports.
· Inspect products and services and perform quality checks at various stages of the work flow.
· Verify employees are following standards
· Ensure the department processes and systems comply with local, state, and federal laws
· Write reports to share observations about compliance and recommend changes to the systems and processes as necessary.
Requirements – Skills – Abilities – Knowledge: Ability to:
· Calibrate quality control measures on kitchen equipment to make sure they function properly.
· Identify ways to improve existing processes and systems to improve quality and consistency.
· Train employees to understand regulations for use and disposal of chemicals, follow procedures, and work within standards of compliance.
· Conduct food safety training at least once a quarter to improve knowledge and compliance of employees on chemical use and safety measures
· Provide oversight to the pest control visitations to the kitchen to ensure pest control issues are communicated and managed.
· Maintain food safety system documents, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and programs working in collaboration with the hospital quality assurance team and help in maintaining documentation.
· Provide daily monitoring of personnel to ensure compliance and food safety system of the department and preform formal audit on cGMP.
· Ensure training of facility personnel on Risk Preventive Controls, Hazard Analysis, pre-requisite programs, and other applicable food safety systems element as required.
· Find out new areas trainings are required
· Provide assistance in reviewing process control in the kitchen as well as the monitoring records for sanitation process control; make report of any noticeable deviation or potential hazards in standard operating procedure of process control to the department manager sanitation efficacy monitoring in the kitchen, such as swabbing and visual inspections.
· Provide assistance in updating and implementing department sanitation plans in collaboration with facility management and quality assurance management.
· Working knowledge of various computer software programs (Microsoft office, restaurant management software, POS).
· Possess management software (POS)
· Possession of a food handler’s certificate.
Education and experience:
· Bachelors of Science in Quality, Business management, Social Science, or another technical field.
· Serve Safe and HACCP certification preferred
· At least 5 years of experience in hospitality operation, food manufacturing industry, in a quality assurance role
· Well verse in generating professional QA documents in Microsoft Word /Power Point/ Excel
Primary Physical Requirements for the Job:
· Stand and walk short distances most of the day
· Readiness to perform duties under stressful conditions
· Lift at least 50 pounds
· Be flexible with schedule as needed such as working on weekends.
