We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Underground Utilities - Safety Manager to lead safety initiatives within an underground utility construction project in Maiden NC. Duties
- Develop, implement, and oversee safety policies and procedures tailored specifically for underground utility construction projects.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards related to underground utilities and ensure adherence to OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards.
- Lead incident investigations, prepare detailed reports, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Provide ongoing safety training and toolbox talks to educate workers on safe practices specific to underground utility work.
- Utilize construction management software to track safety metrics, conduct audits, and maintain comprehensive safety documentation.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in underground utility construction (required)
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification (required)
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (required)
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, particularly excavation and trenching standards and confined spaces
- Experience conducting field safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations
- Familiarity with utility locating, trenching, shoring, confined spaces, and underground utility installation practices
- Experience leading toolbox talks and safety training programs
- Strong communication, leadership, and documentation skills
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction management with a focus on underground utilities or similar heavy civil projects.
- Strong knowledge of risk management principles, occupational health standards, OSHA regulations, and compliance management.
- Familiarity with NEC standards related to electrical installations in construction settings.
- Experience managing Workers' Compensation claims and implementing injury prevention programs.
- Excellent understanding of construction site safety protocols, including excavation safety and trenching procedures.
- Proficiency with construction management software and safety tracking tools.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to lead safety initiatives across diverse teams.
