Summary:
The Safety Specialist plays a key role in fostering a proactive safety culture by partnering with employees, supervisors, and leadership to identify hazards, ensure regulatory compliance, reduce risk, and promote a safe and healthy work environment for all personnel.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of an Associate’s Degree (A.S.) in Safety, Health, Engineering or related discipline.
- ASP, CSP, or other relevant OSHA certification is preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 2 years of work in a manufacturing facility where safety is a core function.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of OSHA and other relevant state and federal regulations.
- Experience working in a unionized manufacturing environment preferred.
- Must be willing and flexible enough to work weekends, and 2nd or 3rd shift on occasion as business requires.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, with intermediate to proficient computer skills.
- Must have strong organizational skills; flexibility and ability to coordinate multiple priorities.
- Displays an attitude conducive to progress through positive change, continuous improvement and active contributor to the teamwork concept.
Responsibilities/Duties:
· Conducts safety meetings, risk assessments, audits and inspections to ensure compliance.
· Evaluates performance, identifies corrections actions and implements follow-up assessments.
· Plans, implements, and conducts preventative care, safety and compliance training programs. Ensures employee knowledge and regulatory compliance.
· Assists in the planning, implementing, and maintaining of comprehensive health and safety programs.
· Provides regular safety updates to relevant parties
· Assists in managing employee workplace injuries, and ensures all employees receive the appropriate level of care.
· Promote employee engagement through safety committees, observations, and behavioral safety initiatives.
· Maintains records of safety-related incidents, training, corrective actions, and risk assessments.
· Coordinates all Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) efforts to ensure employee safety and compliance with State and Federal guidelines.
· Coordinate contractor safety programs and ensure compliance with site-specific requirements.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
