About Store & Haul
Store & Haul is a second-generation, family-owned food-grade bulk liquid transportation and tank-wash company based in Van Wert, OH. Since 1991 we've grown from a small regional carrier into a trusted logistics partner for major food manufacturers, hauling food-grade bulk liquids across the Midwest and East. We run a fleet of tractors and stainless steel tankers with our own wash bays and depot facilities, and we're known for a serious commitment to safety, quality, and compliance. We're a family business that takes care of our drivers and our customers — and we're adding a Driver Recruiter & Safety Coordinator to help us bring on great drivers and keep our fleet safe and compliant.
About the role
This is a recruiting-first role with a safety and compliance side. You'll own driver recruiting end to end — finding, screening, and bringing on qualified CDL-A drivers — and you'll keep our DOT and safety files audit-ready. You'll report directly to ownership and have real ownership of how we fill our trucks. If you like the hustle of recruiting and the discipline of keeping things compliant, this is your seat. We pay a solid base plus uncapped bonuses for every driver you hire who sticks with us.
What you'll do
- Source and recruit qualified CDL-A drivers through Indeed, referrals, social media, and your own pipeline; write and manage job postings
- Respond fast to inbound driver leads — including some after-hours and weekend calls — because good drivers are talking to several carriers at once
- Screen applicants: review applications, verify CDL and endorsements, run pre-employment checks (MVR, PSP, employment verification, DOT drug & alcohol)
- Manage the applicant pipeline in our driver ATS (Double Nickel) and keep candidates warm all the way through hire, orientation, and new-hire setup in payroll (Paychex)
- Build and maintain driver qualification (DQ) files and keep them DOT/FMCSA audit-ready
- Coordinate the DOT drug & alcohol testing program (pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion)
- Run day-to-day safety through Samsara: driver orientation, safety monitoring and coaching, accident/incident intake and reporting, and CSA score monitoring
- Track CDLs, medical cards, and certifications for upcoming expirations
- Partner with dispatch and maintenance on driver and safety issues
What we're looking for
- 2+ years in recruiting, driver recruiting, HR, or transportation operations (driver/CDL recruiting strongly preferred)
- Comfortable making outbound calls and selling the company to candidates — recruiting is relationship work
- Familiarity with FMCSA/DOT driver qualification and drug & alcohol rules is a strong plus
- Organized and detail-oriented enough to keep audit-ready files
- Comfortable learning and working in our tools: Double Nickel (driver ATS), Indeed, Google Sheets, Samsara, and Paychex — experience with any is a plus, but we'll train the right person
- A self-starter who can own the recruiting funnel and chase down leads
Schedule & after-hours
This is a full-time salaried role averaging about 45 hours per week. It also requires taking some calls after hours and on weekends to catch inbound driver leads so we don't lose strong candidates to faster carriers. Please apply only if you're comfortable with that expectation.
Pay & benefits
- $52,000–$65,000 per year base, based on experience
- Uncapped per-hire bonuses that pay out as the drivers you hire stay with us (90 days, 6 months, and 1 year)
- Health insurance
- 401(k) with 4% company match
- Paid time off and paid vacation
- Company-paid life insurance policy
