Position Summary:
This position reports to the Safety Manager with support to the Environmental Supervisor. The Safety Coordinator supports the design, development, and implementation of the organization's health and safety programs and procedures to safeguard employees, and to ensure that our facility is in compliance with regulations. This position will work with all departments within the plant regarding health and safety concerns in a professional manner. The Safety Coordinator is heavily involved in orientation, monthly, and make-up trainings required, as part of safety and quality education/compliance, as well as creating training content with direction from company and regulatory training requirements. - Work the scheduled shift and required overtime
- Develop and administer training programs, including in person or computer based
- Schedule training classes and class locations
- Assist with monitoring of the sites waste streams to achieve compliance with RCRA regulations
- Complete regular safety inspections such as fire extinguisher, eyewash stations, first aid equipment, ladders, fall protection equipment, etc.
- Provide guidance related to health & safety programs/policies and OSHA regulations
- Keep well documented and organized records that are submitted and completed in a timely manner
- Assist in the review and maintenance of all health &safety programs/policies to ensure compliance with regulations
- Understanding of federal, state and local safety compliance requirements and enforcement processes
- Driving continuous improvement in the areas of health and safety
- Active member of the emergency medical response team
Education:
- Degree in health, safety or related discipline, preferred
- Related work experience will be considered
- Certification in, or within 12 months the ability to obtain:
o OSHA 30
o Hazwhoper 24
o CAOHC certification
o Train the Train in Powered Industrial Truck and Mobile Elevated Work Platforms
o First Aid, CPR and AED
Experience:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of safety experience, preferably in a complex, fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Knowledge and practical application of risk management techniques
- Experience working with a diverse group of people
- Professional experience in a food manufacturing environment, preferred

- Excellent oral and written communication skills and attention to detail
