Vassallo Constructions Pty Ltd has been operating successfully in Central Queensland since 1997, undertaking a variety of project types and individual contracts ranging in value from $1M to $50M with a strong focus on roadworks for Qld DTMR.
We have a full time Mackay based position for an outstanding individual to fill the role of Work Health and Safety Adviser.
About the Role
With ongoing project commitments and growing pipeline of works, you will become part of an established team working out of our Mackay office and attending various project sites with a strong focus on TMR, regional council, residential and civil infrastructure work.
Your key responsibilities would include but not be limited to:
- Promote a continuous improvement culture and implement best practice management systems in the workplaces
- Monitor daily site tasks and provide advice on risks and controls
- Weekly and Monthly Reporting
- Co-ordinate training as required
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, regulatory and legislative requirements for Health and Safety
- Ensure that OHS induction and training is provided to all employees and subcontractors;
- Manage subcontractor compliance
- Undertake audits to verify compliance
- Investigate any injuries, incidents and near misses and recommend appropriate corrective actions
- Co-ordinate rehabilitation and return to work activities
- Assist with Drug and Alcohol testing
What you will need to succeed
- Cert IV in OHS or higher qualification, however, applicants working toward formal qualifications may also be considered and are encouraged to apply
- Current “C” Class Drivers Licence
- Minimum 5 years experience in the industry
- A thorough knowledge of civil industry OHS best practice, legislation, regulations and codes of practice
- Strong communication skills
- Computer literacy
- A thorough knowledge of rehabilitation and return to work management
