Position Overview
A confidential employer in the construction industry is seeking an experienced Director of Health & Safety to lead and manage safety programs across active worksites. This role requires a strong field presence, deep regulatory knowledge, and hands-on leadership experience in construction environments.
This is a fully in-person position. Remote work is not available.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct routine and unscheduled safety inspections to identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and ensure follow-through.
- Prepare and review Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) to support safe execution of construction activities.
- Develop site-specific safety documentation, including safety plans and specialized lift plans as required.
- Lead safety meetings and committees; analyze trends, incidents, and performance data to guide continuous improvement.
- Deliver safety training programs, including new hire orientations, toolbox talks, and competent person training.
- Maintain training and certification records and monitor renewal requirements.
- Respond to workplace incidents and injuries; lead investigations, document findings, and implement preventive measures.
- Initiate and manage workers’ compensation claims, coordinating with internal leadership and external partners as needed.
- Support fleet, equipment, and vehicle safety programs in collaboration with operational leadership.
- Serve as the primary contact for regulatory inspections and audits; coordinate responses and corrective actions.
- Participate in insurance-related safety and claims meetings and periodic safety program reviews.
- Act as the safety lead on designated projects and collaborate with jobsite leadership and external partners.
- Attend industry safety meetings and conferences as appropriate.
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in construction safety leadership.
- Prior experience in construction required; specialty contractor experience preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards (29 CFR 1926), DOT safety standards, and applicable state regulations.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification required.
- Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification required.

Pay: $125,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
