The Operations and Safety Assistant is responsible for ensuring the efficient and compliant operation of the organization's logistics and safety programs. This role involves critical support in managing day-to-day operations, overseeing over-the-road driver management and dispatch functions, and ensuring strict adherence to all pertinent safety regulations, particularly those mandated by the Department of Transportation (DOT). A core function of this position is the development and implementation of training programs designed to enhance employee productivity and maintain a high standard of workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the over-the-road driver pool and supervise dispatch operations.
- Maintain accurate and current DOT compliance files and ensure adherence to all relevant regulations.
- Develop and conduct new employee orientation and on-the-job training programs.
- Identify deficiencies in current training materials and revise them to improve team productivity and safety outcomes.
- Evaluate new training resources and tools to enhance the quality and effectiveness of training procedures.
- Assess future training requirements and design the corresponding implementation plans.
- Lead initiatives to guide employees through organizational changes, such as the introduction of new technology, company acquisitions, or mergers.
- Address specific operational challenges and adjust training programs as necessary.
- Liaise with management, trainers, and team members to ensure all operational and safety requirements are met.
- Provide assistance with Human Resources and Operations tasks as directed.
Qualifications
- 2+ years operational safety and training experience.
- 2+ years experience with dispatch.
- CDL preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
