We are seeking a dedicated Safety Director / Driver Trainer to join our team and ensure our drivers operate safely and efficiently in the demanding oilfield environment.
Job Summary
The Safety Director / Driver Trainer will oversee the company’s safety programs and provide comprehensive training to our drivers. This role is critical to maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations, reducing risk, and fostering a culture of safety. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in trucking, a strong understanding of oilfield operations, and a passion for mentoring drivers.
Responsibilities
- Safety Program Management:
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures in compliance with FMCSA, DOT, and OSHA regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments of equipment, drivers, and operations.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Monitor driver logs, hours of service, and compliance with ELD requirements.
- Prepare and submit safety reports to regulatory agencies as required.
- Driver Training:
- Design and deliver training programs for new and existing drivers, focusing on safe driving practices, oilfield-specific hazards, and equipment operation.
- Conduct ride-along evaluations and provide constructive feedback to improve driver performance.
- Train drivers on company policies, load securement, defensive driving, and handling hazardous materials common in oilfield operations.
- Maintain training records and ensure all drivers meet certification and licensing requirements.
- Compliance and Risk Management:
- Stay updated on changes to federal, state, and industry-specific regulations affecting oilfield trucking.
- Collaborate with management to ensure fleet maintenance and safety standards are met.
- Promote a safety-first culture through regular meetings, toolbox talks, and employee engagement.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the trucking industry, preferably in oilfield operations.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- In-depth knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, and OSHA regulations.
- Proven experience in driver training or safety management.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Preferred:
- Certification in safety management (e.g., CDS, CSS, or equivalent).
- Experience with oilfield-specific equipment, such as flatbeds, tankers, or heavy haul.
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and fleet management software.
