Responsible for overall management of the safety and occupational health program on assigned projects. The Safety Officer shall have the authority to act in all safety matters for assigned projects at all times, to perform safety and occupational health management, surveillance, inspections, and safety enforcement. Perform all work in a safe and professional manner.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Prepare the project Safety Plan and Activity Hazard Analysis for each definable feature of work on the project
- Ensure compliance with project Accident Prevention Plan
- Conducts daily walkthrough of the project site(s) ensuring work is being accomplished safely and occupational health is not compromised
- Safety training of all personnel assigned to project(s) and project site visitors
- Conducts project safety inspections with follow-up inspections of any open items
- Accident and Incident investigations
- Attends and participate in all safety network meetings
- Conduct weekly toolbox meetings for all workers
- Produce all Safety Report of activities performed
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to get along with customers, co-workers, supervisors, and management.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, & EXPERIENCE: Associated degree in Safety and/or Environmental related discipline. Minimum of 5 years safety work on construction projects.
Current OSHA 30-hour certificate and competent person status as required. Requirements may vary depending on individual project specifications
