PURPOSE: The Safety Professional, preferably holding a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification, will operate under the guidance of the Safety Manager/Site Superintendent. Their role is crucial in large projects or turnarounds, focusing on Safety, Health, and Environmental aspects to prevent and mitigate employee injuries and illnesses. The position involves assisting field employees, especially during periods of increased headcount, in maintaining safe work practices at their designated job sites. The technician will also ensure the Company's compliance with various governmental regulations, including OSHA, DOT, MSHA, EPA, and NFPA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Hazard Assessment: Proactively anticipate, identify, and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices. Implement and oversee safety programs and procedures, and monitor their effectiveness.
Training and Education: Facilitate, document, and ensure comprehensive safety training for all site employees, including conducting safety meetings and training programs.
Site Inspections: Conduct job hazard analyses, halt operations if necessary due to health, safety, or environmental risks, and provide coaching on safety compliance.
Regulatory Compliance: Assist in adhering to Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations such as OSHA, DOT, MSHA, EPA, and NFPA.
Customer Interaction: Engage in safety initiatives required by clients, including conducting approved safety training.
Incident Management: Investigate incidents involving company assets or personnel and prepare thorough documentation.
Medical Coordination: Manage the transportation of injured or ill employees to medical facilities and collaborate with medical providers for return-to-work programs.
Administrative Responsibilities: Fulfill technical and representative duties as per company safety policies, manage reports, OSHA recordkeeping, and administer emergency response procedures at job sites.
