As a Safety Tech on our National Traveling Construction Team, you'll play a key role in keeping our job sites running safely and smoothly. You'll assist our Safety Managers with everything from job site audits and training to accident prevention and culture-building all while traveling to exciting project sites across the country.

Responsibilities:

Assist the Safety Director in promoting behavioral-based safety on remote construction sites
Ensure all safety equipment and supplies are on-site
Assist in providing First Aid training and First Aid on site
Complete job-site safety audits, correcting all potential problems
Monitor and promote weekly on-site safety inspections, including logging, reporting, and documentation
Assist the Safety Manager with the investigation of accidents, injuries, and "near-misses"
Assist with coordinating training programs or media, which will increase proficiency in safe practice and promote safety implementation and awareness
Conduct Root-Cause Analyses
Attend foreman and team safety meetings
Assisting with project start-ups and plant shut-downs
Assist crews in observing, communicating, and growing the Interstates Safety Culture
Develop relationships with customers, safety managers, and other Interstates personnel
Other duties may be assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Excellent verbal and written communication
Able to track information and conduct audits
Ability to write reports and procedure manuals
Can effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
Ability to work well with others and achieve results through others, without having a direct line of authority over them
Must possess sound judgement skills, and the ability to prioritize work and deal with stress

Education: Bachelor's degree from a four-year College or university, preferably in Safety Engineering, or one to two years related experience and/or training in the safety or construction industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Travel: This position will be 100% travel required within the United States.
