Global chemical company seeks an Industrial Hygienist for their Florida plant. CIH is a plus
Responsibilities Include:
- Develop and manage annual Industrial Hygiene (IH) plans for the site
- Perform IH activities including, but not limited to, identification, assessment and control of potential chemical, physical and biological stressors in the workplace
- Manage exposure assessment data, including qualitative and quantitative exposure assessment documentation.
- Ensure that occupational health practices and regulatory requirements are recognized, reviewed and implemented.
- Participate in emerging issues identification, analysis and resolution
- Participate as a core member of the site ESSH team in any other capacity necessary to maintain and improve ESSH programs, policies, systems and initiatives for the site or company
- Own, administer, and maintain all applicable IH policies and procedures to ensure successful implementation of regulatory, company and industry standards
- Administer the Exposure Assessment process, including qualitative/quantitative IH assessments, short and long-term IH initiatives in alignment with company directives and selection of proper control solutions to reduce occupational health risks
- Serve as the focal point for the management of the applicable IH programs to drive integration and improvements across the facility down to the unit and department level.
- Conduct compliance audits and program assessments and develop action plans to close identified gaps.
- Provide expertise and assistance to work groups in developing and implementing compliance systems, programs, policies and procedures to ensure occupational exposures are adequately controlled and/or eliminated.
- Review current and proposed projects to ensure IH concerns are identified and steps defined and addressed
- Facilitate the approval and onboarding of new chemicals to the site with support of product stewardship
- Complete required regulatory and corporate reports (e.g., SARA 312, CWC, TSCA)
- Provide exposure monitoring support during emergencies, such as releases, fires, or spills
- Function as Radiation Safety Officer with required state licensing
- Work with onsite medical staff to maintain medical surveillance programs based on SEG requirements
- Secure legal advice under necessary circumstances and act on legal advice as appropriate
- Perform field inspections to provide advice and oversight of safe work practices
- Act as a liaison between the facility and outside regulatory agencies
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Public Health or a closely related science/engineering field
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in organic chemical industry, oil refining, industrial manufacturing and/or heavy construction environment
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and health practices and standards
- General safety program management with strong knowledge and understanding of OSHA and other industry related safety regulations required
- Certification, training and/or working knowledge of the following: OSHA 10/30, HAZWOPER, radiation safety
