Job Title: Corporate Training and Safety Coordinator
Location: Office-Based, Des Moines IA
Salary: $60k - $80k, with 4% Profit Sharing
Reports to: Corporate EHS Director
Summary
Spinnaker Solutions is partnering with a leader in agricultural and industrial construction, to recruit a Corporate Training and Safety Coordinator. This position will focus on developing, delivering, and managing safety and compliance training programs across all business units. The role includes creating safety content, identifying training needs, and facilitating compliance through in-person sessions and Learning Management Systems (LMS). The coordinator will also ensure safety program adherence at facilities and project sites by conducting inspections and coaching teams on compliance.
The Corporate Training and Safety Coordinator will work closely with leadership to maintain a culture of safety and accountability, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and company policies. This role requires 25% travel and a willingness to work outdoors and at heights of up to 200 feet. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, proactive, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment. Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Training Program Development and Delivery
- Develop, update, and conduct safety and compliance training for all Mid-States business units, including OSHA 10/30-hour courses, company-specific safety topics, and workmanship standards.
- Create and manage how-to videos for safety and production processes.
- Collaborate with leadership to deliver new-hire training and onboarding sessions.
- Compliance Tracking and Reporting
- Maintain training records across all business units, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Track upcoming training expirations and send reminders to relevant staff and managers.
- Generate and share compliance status reports with leadership.
- Safety Program Support
- Support safety program through inspections, incident investigations, and employee coaching.
- Facilitate safety committee meetings and participate in accident/near-miss reviews.
- Regulatory Knowledge and Application
- Ensure training and programs align with OSHA regulations and company policies.
- Knowledge of FMCSA/PHMSA standards is a plus, especially for transportation and hazardous material compliance.
Position Time Allocation
- 60% – Day-to-day operations, including safety program development, training delivery, and compliance monitoring.
- 25% – Direct support for companies safety program.
- 10% – Administrative tasks such as filing and maintaining electronic and physical records.
- 5% – Managing ad hoc safety or training-related tasks as they arise.
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of experience in training management or construction safety; or a high school diploma with 7+ years of relevant experience.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with Learning Management Systems (LMS) or videography tools.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to climb up to 200 feet and lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the day.
- Willingness to work in varying outdoor conditions.
- Personal Attributes:
- Highly organized and self-motivated, with strong analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
- Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) is a significant advantage.
- Travel: Willingness to travel 25% to project sites for inspections, training, and safety support.
