$97,333.71 - $154,588.58
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for the oversight and coordination of all security and safety related services in support of a District consisting of 5 campuses. Provides leadership to a department of up to 70 full and part time positions, contract security and off-duty police contracted by the District. Prime responsibility for managing the related budget of approximately $3 million. Collaborates effectively with various peers, individuals and agencies inside and outside of the department to evaluate to provide a safe campus environment. Acts as a liaison between Campuses. Serves as the primary emergency management official for the District, is the primary College official notified in time of disaster preparation, clean-up and planning while maintaining all emergency response plans.
Job Duties:
- Directs, leads and provides managerial oversight to the operational components of security services to all College locations. Will serve as the College lead for required campus training to improve the safety of the College. Serves as the direct point of contact for all federal, state, county and local communications and emergency response planning for natural disasters or items of impact to the College.
- Drive customer service and support across all campus constituents through campus patrol visibility and interaction with all members of the HCC community. Provide “above and beyond” service quality in interactions with students and the public, ensuring a safe and great impression of the College. Meet regularly with Campus Presidents and act upon recommendation or suggestions as needed.
- Manage, lead and develop subordinate command structure and serve as direct point of support to all College administration, staff, students and faculty. Develop strategy and tactics to provide enhanced security and safety functions. Ensure communications within the College leadership are actively notified.
- Prepares and maintains the department budget taking necessary actions for budgetary efficiency. Responsible for completion and submission of various federal, state and local reports including Clery, CooP, preparedness plans, etc…
- Performs threat and risk assessments for all College-wide operations/facilities; conducts related risk analyses; implements strategies consistent with findings. Consistent commitment to continuous improvement to safety for students, staff and faculty.
- Maintains liaison and exchange of risk information with outside law enforcement and risk assessment agencies; serves as the primary contact with outside emergency management agencies.
- Directs the effectiveness of the reporting, and communications systems; analyzes effectiveness using available data; has ownership of college security camera systems and its monitoring.
- Serves as the point person or key manager in the development, implementation and operationalization of public safety & emergency response plans.
- Serves as the incident commander during emergencies, insuring College assets and customers are safe and secure.
- Develops strategy and tactics to enhance current operations and provide enhanced services to a wide variety of constituents.
- Additional duties as required to support the College mission.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree and five to seven years of prior related work experience. Possession of a Class D Security License from the State of Florida Division of Licensing of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, or the qualifications and ability to obtain one within the first 90 days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated management and administrative leadership within a police force or a military police unit. Experience in managing a police or security department at a Higher Education institution.
