Overview
The Safety Manager plays a critical role in ensuring a safe work environment by developing, implementing, and overseeing safety policies and procedures. This position is responsible for promoting a culture of safety within the organization, ensuring compliance with regulations, and minimizing risks to employees and the workplace. The Safety Manager will collaborate with various departments to foster an environment that prioritizes health and safety.
Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety training programs for employees, including CPR and First Aid training.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards.
- Prepare detailed reports on safety incidents, including root cause analysis, to identify trends and recommend corrective actions.
- Manage workers' compensation claims and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
- Collaborate with management to create a proactive approach to occupational health and safety issues.
- Facilitate safety meetings and training sessions to promote awareness of best practices among staff.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and standards related to environmental health and safety (EHS).
- Fabricate safety equipment or tools as necessary to enhance workplace safety measures.
Skills
- Strong background in training development with the ability to create engaging educational materials.
- Proficient in report writing with excellent communication skills for conveying complex information clearly.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations (EPA) and occupational health standards.
- Experience in conducting root cause analysis for incident investigations.
- Familiarity with workers' compensation processes and documentation requirements.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments while maintaining a strong focus on safety initiatives.
