Safety Consultant - Detroit, MI (Detroit /Metro)
OnPoint Industrial Group is a national, full-service, Safety Consulting, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene and Confined Space Rescue company. We are currently seeking a Safety Consultant based out of Detroit, MI (Metro) for upcoming projects in and around the area.

Hours: Monday - Friday; 40 to 50 hours per week
Duration: 6 months +
The Project Field Safety Advisor is responsible for ensuring the implementation and adherence to safety protocols and regulations at project sites. This role involves conducting safety inspections, training, and promoting a culture of safety to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Inspections and Audits:
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits at project sites.
- Identify potential OSHA Violations and safety hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
Incident Investigation:
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes.
- Prepare detailed reports and provide recommendations to prevent recurrence.
Training and Education:
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for site personnel.
- Ensure all employees are aware of and understand safety policies and procedures.
Safety Planning:
- Assist in the development and implementation of site-specific safety plans.
- Collaborate with project management to integrate safety into project planning and execution.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety regulations and standards.
- Ensure all safety documentation and records are complete and compliant.
Emergency Response:
- Develop and implement emergency response plans.
- Coordinate and conduct emergency drills and training.
Communication and Reporting:
- Communicate safety expectations and updates to site personnel.
- Provide regular safety performance reports to management.
Continuous Improvement:
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and proactive safety management.
- Identify opportunities for improving safety practices and procedures.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a Safety related field is a plus
- 3 to 5+ years field safety experience; Construction
- OSHA 30 Construction Required; OSHA 510 /500 is a plus
- CHST, CSP, BCSP Certifications is a plus
- Available to work long hours including weekends based on the project schedule
- Knowledge: Strong knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices
- Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Job Type: Contract
Pay: Up to $45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
