Overview
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager plays a critical role in ensuring a safe and compliant work environment. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing EHS programs that adhere to regulatory standards and promote a culture of safety within the organization. The EHS Manager will collaborate with various departments to identify hazards, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive EHS policies and procedures in alignment with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess compliance with EHS standards.
- Lead training sessions for employees on safety protocols, first aid, CPR, and emergency response procedures.
- Investigate incidents and accidents to determine root causes; prepare detailed reports outlining findings and recommendations.
- Collaborate with management to develop strategies for reducing workplace hazards and improving safety performance.
- Manage workers' compensation claims and ensure compliance with workers' compensation laws.
- Stay updated on WA Dept. of Ecology (DOE) & Northwest Clean Air Agency (NWCAA) regulations and ensure organizational adherence.
- Facilitate the development of training materials tailored to specific job functions within the organization.
- Promote a culture of safety through effective communication and employee engagement initiatives.
Skills
- Proficient in First Aid and CPR certification.
- Strong knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) regulations, including WA Boatyard General Permit.
- Excellent report writing skills for documenting incidents, audits, and compliance assessments.
- Experience in training development to effectively educate employees on safety practices.
- Familiarity with root cause analysis methodologies to identify underlying issues contributing to workplace incidents.
- Understanding of workers' compensation processes and relevant laws.
- Ability to fabricate solutions or modifications that enhance workplace safety.
- Strong analytical skills to assess risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Exceptional communication skills for engaging with employees at all levels of the organization.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $27.00 - $35.00 per hour
