Job Summary
The Patient Services Representative enhances the patient’s experience by professionally, accurately and efficiently performing front office processes related to the patient’s visit. The duties performed include, but are not limited to, greeting patients and family members, patient registration, data entry, and assisting with medical records.
Patient Service Rep Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Promotes a positive patient experience by following required policies and procedures. Treats each patient as their most important priority.
- Welcomes patients and family members in a professional manner and answers patient and visitor questions.
- Interviews incoming patients, family members or other responsible individuals to collect, verify and enter confidential patient demographic and insurance information into database prior to service.
- Obtains necessary signatures on registration and insurance forms.
- Obtains copies of insurance cards and driver’s license.
- Answers incoming phone calls and directs them as appropriate.
- Assists in maintaining medical records; scanning documents, chart preparation, chart tear down and cleaning.
- Assists in maintaining incoming faxes and files them appropriately.
- Coordinates communication between patients, family members and staff.
- Maintains patient and family nourishment.
- Locates orders or if needed contacts physicians, physician offices or other health care agencies to obtain orders.
- Collects patient deductible, co-insurance or deposit at the time of service.
- Follows up with patients and family members to make them feel cared for and important.
- Performs other duties or special projects as assigned by management.
Patient Service Rep Job Requirements and Qualifications
Patient Service Rep Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 1 - 2 years’ related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Patient Service Rep Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to express ideas and information clearly and concisely in a manner appropriate to the audience
- Demonstrated ability to interact with patients, families, staff, physicians, and all levels of employees
- Ability to effectively contribute as a team member promoting cooperation, collaboration and flexibility in working with others to achieve quality patient care
- Ability to be accountable for quality customer service and respond appropriately to a variety of personalities and situations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, security and standards of ethics with all information
- Strong discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive information
- Comply with all state/federal regulations (including HIPAA), company policies, standards and health & safety rules
- Ability to take initiative, be self-motivated and an independent, accountable, dependable performer
- Demonstrated critical thinking, problem analysis and problem resolution skills

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.95 - $19.25 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
