Safety Manager / Risk Management
Position Overview
This opportunity includes ensuring and maintaining the safety of the workplace and employees and providing continuous improvement of our safety program. The Safety Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining employee training programs in addition to conducting daily inspections on site. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of Leware Construction. This position requires an in-depth knowledge of safety rules and regulations for OSHA as well as the Florida Department of Transportation. Traveling to multiple job sites statewide is required each week. * A majority of our job site locations are or can be from Jacksonville down to Naples.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the safety of all jobsites by conducting onsite inspections and achieve/document corrective actions promptly.
- Provide continuous improvement to our safety program by keeping informed on updated OSHA standards and labor laws
- May develop, implement, and maintain employee training programs and strategies such as digital learning, classroom, skill qualifications, and on – the- job training
- May perform monthly or quarterly on the job training with crews
- Participate with crews for Toolbox Safety Meetings
- Ensure crews are engaging in Toolbox Safety Meetings and
- Ensure all personnel, including subcontractors, are using appropriate personal protective equipment
- Certify all regulatory and awareness safety postings and signage comply and are current
- Work closely with external insurance company contacts in reporting and managing safety related claims and follow through with monitoring and communication for medical treatment of employees
- Administer and monitor Company drug and alcohol testing in accordance with company, federal and state requirements
- Maintain OSHA Form 300
- Assist with hiring on job sites and conducting new hire safety orientation
- Be present and engaged for crucial scopes of work. This is achieved by having daily communication with Superintendents and Project Managers and awareness of daily project activities
- This position works closely with the Human Resources team and is a direct report to Team Leader
Skills/Attributes
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA standards and recent OSHA training (10-hour, 30 hour)
- Familiarity with the FDOT rules and regulations
- Willing to travel and be present on job sites daily
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to maintain accurate and detailed records
- Ability to handle confidential personal data
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with all employees at all levels in the workplace – Communication is critical for this position
Requirements
· 3+ years in construction safety or equivalent combination of experience and education
· Experience with Fall Protection (including elevated platforms), Scaffolding, Steel Erection, Excavation, Loading and Cranes
· 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety certification or 30 hours training covering the subjects of the OSHA 30-hour construction safety course
· First Aid/CPR certificate a plus
· Bilingual a plus
